FIELD EXPERIENCE

Inside the forest, along the Dardagna

The path enters the beech forest and follows a succession of waterfalls. In just a few meters, the elevation, direction, and background change: it's a perfect place to calmly work on the composition, rather than stopping in front of a single view.

Why photograph the Dardagna?

The stream rises in the basin between Corno alle Scale and Monte Spigolino, then plunges into the beech forest. From the highest waterfall to the final pool, the water climbs over one hundred meters in height, distributed in a stepped structure shaped by the sandstone layers.

Here you can move from a wide scene to a narrow frame without changing the area. The white water, dark rocks, and vertical logs provide clear reference points for studying shutter speeds, polarizers, and the order of elements in the frame.

The workshop will follow the rhythm of the forest and the water conditions. We'll focus on the areas that allow for good work and compare framing, exposure, and filter use on site. The exact schedule will be completed after the date is chosen.

PHOTOGRAPHIC ITINERARY

The subjects of the workshop

The final photos will be inserted here. The boxes are already prepared in the correct aspect ratio and clearly indicate which images are missing.

The Enchanted Waterfall, one of the main waterfalls of the Dardagna, photographed by Manuel Linari
💧 SALTI PRINCIPALI

The Dardagna steps

Multiple jumps, one stream

We will work on the shutter speeds to give structure to the water, keeping the rocks, branches and planes of the scene legible.

The Elegance of Water, an intimate scene of the Dardagna stream photographed by Manuel Linari
🔍 SCENE INTIME

The torrent and the details

Rocks, small rapids and water lines

We will look for tighter compositions, using the direction of the flow and the contrasts between water, moss and sandstone.

The Descent of the Doccione, the waterfall photographed by Manuel Linari
💧 NOT ONLY DARDAGNA

The Doccione Waterfall

A long descent of water in the Apennines

We will also work on the Doccione, following the waterfall from the top to the lowest drops and choosing times and shots capable of holding together its entire descent.

🎓 What you will learn

During the workshop we will work together on everything needed to create effective landscape photographs:

  • 🌅 Reading the light natural and its orientation
  • 📐 Choosing the best composition depending on the subject
  • 🔮 Using ND filters and polarizers for water control
  • ⏱ī¸ Managing long exposures on streams and waterfalls
  • đŸŽ¯ Semplificare l'inquadratura eliminating the disturbing elements
"The goal is not simply to bring home beautiful photographs, but to learn a method that you can apply on any of your future photographic outings."

🎒 Recommended gear

  • 📸 Fotocamera Mirrorless or Reflex with manual control
  • 🔭 Grandangolo (14–24 mm recommended for wide shots)
  • đŸĻĩ Treppiede robusto essential for long water exposures
  • 🔘 Scatto remoto / Trigger esterno to avoid any vibration
  • 🔮 ND and Polarizer Filters to eliminate reflections and create a silk effect
  • 🔋 Batterie & Schede of spare memory
  • đŸĨž Mountain clothing layered and waterproof boots
  • 👕 Complete spare change in car (we will be in constant close contact with water!)
â„šī¸ Route Note: the final program will indicate difficulty, altitude difference and required clothing after choosing the date and the inspection.
