Five days in Levi to photograph the North as we experience it: snowy forests, short daylight hours, activities outdoors and everyday life in a shared cottage.

PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE FIELD

Photographing the trip from within

I don't want to take you to Lapland just to collect postcard views. We will spend time in the landscape, working with short daylight hours, snow and the small moments that make a trip our own.

Forests, huskies, snowmobiles and life in the cottage are all part of what we photograph. Technique will help us respond to what happens, rather than dictate the itinerary.

We will practise looking after our equipment in the cold, reading the winter light and building a photographic story from everyday moments. We will leave time to watch and wait.

After a safety briefing, we will explore the Finnish countryside by snowmobile. An Italian driving licence is required to drive; you can also take part as a passenger. Ask the operator about other licences.

Returning from the cold, cooking together, a sauna and time to talk: the cottage is part of the photographic story too.

If the sky clears, we can head outside near our accommodation. We will prepare our exposure and focus, then wait to see what the sky brings.

Arrival in Levi

Flight from Milan to Kittilä, transfer to the cottage and settling in. A first outing near the accommodation may be possible.

ACTIVITY

Husky sled ride

A shared excursion through the snowy forest, followed by time at the cottage and opportunities to photograph the day.

A briefing followed by a route through the countryside, as a driver or passenger.

TIME IN LEVI

Landscape photography, daily life, sauna and evening outings when conditions are favourable.

17 JAN

Return home

Our last hours in Levi, airport transfer and return flight according to the confirmed schedule.

€1,880 per person

Twin room in a shared cottage. A 30% deposit is due on confirmation, with the remaining 70% due 45 days before departure.
